Acetoacetoxy ethyl methacrylate, also known as AAEMA or HEMA Acetonacetate, is a low viscosity, monofunctional methacrylate. The two ketone groups in its backbone can chelate various cations allowing for adhesion between methacrylate resins or plastics and metals. The homopolymer of acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate has a low Tg creating the potential for use as a toughening agent in polymer systems.
